Looking for something to do after AP Economics testing is over?
Now that the AP testing window is done (or almost done – the third testing window is the first two weeks of June), what do we do with our students?
I have a dozen juniors left because our seniors finish early, and I like to teach some personal finance for these last few weeks. I usually ask them what they want to learn about and go from there.
If you haven’t already, check out Next Gen Personal Finance. They have amazing curriculum for just about any personal finance topic you can imagine. You can do full or mini-lessons, using a variety of content. They’ve also included assessments, if you want to go that route. You will need to create a teacher account to get access to the answer keys.
NGPF also has ✨AMAZING✨ professional development with lots of swag when you reach various levels!!
If you are looking for something that students can do on their own, self-paced, head over to Everfi for their personal finance content. In addition to Financial Education, they have Social Emotional Learning, Health and Wellness, and College/Career Readiness. You will need to create a teacher account, set up a class, and have students join that class. Then assign curriculum for the class to complete. Everfi also lets students enter drawings for scholarships for completing certain modules.
Another option is Khan Academy. They have a course on personal finance, which is mainly videos. Nice and short, very informative. There is also a course on college admissions, and one on careers.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun! I hope the rest of your school year goes smoothly. Best wishes for summer!
