It’s time to start thinking about getting your students prepared for the AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics exams! I have a few exam prep suggestions for you.
Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis – AP Economics Live Review
If you are not familiar with the St. Louis Fed’s resources for teaching economics, you should definitely check them out: St. Louis Fed Resources for Educators. This year they are conducting a live virtual review session for AP Macro on Wednesday, April 27, and another session for AP Micro on Thursday, April 28. These review sessions are FREE but students need to register by April 25 (for AP Macro) and April 26 (for AP Micro). You can register at this link: St. Louis Fed AP Economics Live Review.
Jacob Clifford’s Ultimate Review Packet and YouTube Channel
I started teaching AP Economics with Jacob Clifford’s teacher resources. He does an amazing job of breaking down the CED units and focusing his teacher resources on exactly what needs to be taught for the AP Econ Exams. He also has an amazing review packet for students, including practice questions and exams. Here’s a link to his website where you can find his teacher resources and the Ultimate Review Packet for students: acdcecon.com.
Jacob Clifford’s YouTube channel is another fantastic resource for your students. He has tons of videos for both Macro and Micro, with very energetic explanations of every concept students need to know. He will also be doing some live reviews this year. He will be announcing the dates of those reviews on his YouTube channel very soon.
Unit Reviews
In my TeachersPayTeachers store, I have unit reviews for all the Macro and Micro units. I use these during the semester for students to collect all of their notes in one place for each unit before we take a unit test. Then they have all the unit reviews completed at the end of the course and can use them to study for the exams.
I have included a filled-in version for each unit review that you can hand out to students to review, in case you are running out of time. You can get the reviews here: AP Macro Unit Reviews, AP Micro Unit Reviews.
AP Classroom
My last suggestion is to use AP Classroom’s Review and Practice Exam resources. Under Course Resources on the left side of the screen is a section called Review. Here you will find last year’s (2021) AP Exam On-Demand Review videos. They will be producing new videos this year which you can find at the same spot on AP Classroom, or on Advanced Placement’s YouTube Channel.
Students can also practice with the official practice exams on AP Classroom. You must assign these before students can use them to review for the exams. Once students take the practice exams, they can go through their answers to see if there are any areas that they need to revisit. Then students can go to the Daily Videos for those sections to review that content.
Hope those suggestions work for you! Happy exam prepping!!
